Ortovox created the Avabag LiTRIC Tour 28S to make the mountains safer for backcountry skiers. A modular avalanche airbag pack with a short back length ideal for smaller users, its features have been tailored to ski touring. Built around LiTRIC, Ortovox's electronic airbag system is lightweight, reliable, and simple to use.
The pack has a modular design with two sections: an Avabag LiTRIC Tour 28S Zip-On attachment and a base comprising the LiTRIC airbag system and back panel.
The LiTRIC electronic airbag system is powered by a combination of supercapacitors and a lithium-ion battery. Together, they ensure reliable operation down to -40°C without a drop in performance. The unit takes around 25 minutes to charge via USB-C: one charge enables at least two airbag activations. Intuitive to use, LiTRIC makes it easy to practise and get crucial familiarisation with the airbag system before you head into the mountains.
To trigger the airbag, you pull the deployment handle; you can turn the handle 180° to block the system for protection against false activation. A radial high-performance compressor with an axial diffusor fills the airbag in four seconds. The airbag has a 150-litre capacity, made from pliable two-layer fabric that's quick to repack into the pocket - no complicated folding necessary.
Alongside the airbag system, the base section of the Tour 28S pack includes Ortovox's Full Light Contact back panel. Adjustable shoulder, sternum, and hip belt straps give a secure fit. Cushioning and lumbar support ensure comfort when carrying full loads and on long ascents.
The Avabag LiTRIC Tour 28S Zip-On attachment has a 28-litre capacity making it best suited to day tours. A front avalanche safety kit pocket - with sleeves for a shovel handle and probe - allows quick access to your emergency equipment. The main compartment is hydration bladder compatible and has a light-coloured internal fabric to help you spot gear faster. External straps offer ski, snowshoe, helmet, and ice axe attachment points.
Ortovox's modular system means you can attach their various Avabag LiTRIC Tour S and Freeride S Zip-On attachments (sold separately) to the base section - adapting the pack to different backcountry scenarios without compromising comfort, safety, or performance.
